Integrating Parsons puzzles within Scratch enables efficient computational thinking learning

چکیده

A literature review revealed that students learning computational thinking (CT) via Scratch often require substantial teacher support. We surveyed grade 6-9 teachers to learn their perceptions of student engagement with CT and how well needs are met by existing systems. The results led us extend the trend balancing Scratch’s agency structure better serve learners reduce burden on aiming teach CT. In this paper, we architecture implementation strategies developed integrate Parsons Programming Puzzles (PPPs) Scratch, then analyze effects adults, who crucially influence education children. from our pilot study suggest PPPs catalyze motivation, extraneous cognitive load, increase efficiency without jeopardizing performance transfer tasks.

FROM SKETCH TO SCRATCH - schrittweise zu "computational thinking" geführt werden

Analyze your Scratch projects with Dr. Scratch and assess your Computational Thinking skills

In this paper we present the feature of Dr. Scratch that allows to automatically assessing the Computational Thinking skills of Scratch projects. The paper reviews similar initiatives, like Hairball, and investigates the literature with proposals for assessment of Scratch projects that we have studied and remixed in order to develop the Computational Thinking analysis. Then it introduces the va...

Model of Learning Computational Thinking

There is a high demand for qualified information and communication technology (ICT) practitioners in the European labour market, but the problem at many universities is a high dropout rate among ICT students, especially during the first study year. The solution might be to focus more on improving students’ computational thinking (CT) before starting university studies. Therefore, research is ne...

PREPRINT: Nonoutsourceable Scratch-Off Puzzles to Discourage Bitcoin Mining Coalitions

An implicit goal of Bitcoin’s reward structure is to diffuse network influence over a diverse, decentralized population of individual participants. Indeed, Bitcoin’s security claims rely on no single entity wielding a sufficiently large portion of the network’s overall computational power Unfortunately, rather than participating independently, most Bitcoin miners join coalitions called mining p...

Computational Complexity of Cast Puzzles

A disentanglement puzzle consists of mechanically interlinked pieces, and the puzzle is solved by disentangling one piece from another set of pieces. A cast puzzle is a type of disentanglement puzzle, where each piece is a zinc die-casting alloy. In this paper, we consider the generalized cast puzzle problem whose input is the layout of a finite number of pieces (polyhedrons) in the 3-dimension...
